AAF Communications Trainer-TA

Train the communications staff and communications squadrons (CS) to be self-sufficient and capable of sustaining operations at designated AAF installations. The Communications Contractor shall train the AAF on planning, programming and budgeting for Communications and Information (C&I), oversight of network operations, telecommunications services, and operations and maintenance development/execution of plans.   Instruct in proper sizing/manning of the AAF communications units by engaging with appropriate A-staff directorates, in accordance with the current Tashkil.  Instruct in establishing and maintaining an annual training plan which identifies training requirements for officer and enlisted personnel.  Collaborate with the J-Lead to develop an instruction schedule.  Instruct in establishing and maintaining a base C&I plan for facilities as well operations and maintenance.  Train the AAF A6 in conducting, planning, scheduling, contracting, equipment management, facilities utilization, and sustaining the development of the Air Force personnel.  Provide instruction in establishing and maintaining strategic basing plans and projects with ANA Installation Management Division (IMD).  Train the AAF A6 staff to develop capacity to manage C&I resources in the areas of in base-level planning, network operations, telephone operation, and maintenance activities.   Provide instruction in establishing and maintaining strategic basing plans and projects with ANA IMD.  Facilitate effective communication and engagement of the A6 with chain of command and seek to ensure that A6 strategic plans are executed at wing and squadron levels.  Train the AAF A6 to interact closely with Coalition advisors and headquarters staff in planning for development of AAF C&I infrastructure, equipment fielding, and training. 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years in communications
  • Must be a US Citizen 
  • Must be able to pass CENTCOM medical, dental and other CRC-related deployment requirements from CRC at Ft. Bliss, TX.    
  • Must continue to maintain CENTCOM Mod 13 and other deployment-related requirements for the Afghanistan theater of operations     
  • Must be able to receive and maintain a current/active Afghanistan visa 
  • Must be in possession of and maintain an appropriate-level current/active security clearance with eligibility to receive/maintain a NATO clearance for the duration of the deployment      
  • Must be willing to work and live in austere and hostile environments in Afghanistan, and understanding of the possibility to be further assigned to any location in Afghanistan, as allowed by the contract 
  • Must be willing and able to travel outside of protected areas via military convoys or MILAIR, and wear protective clothing and equipment, as required.  Force protection will be provided by authorized sources.   
  • Must have the demonstrated ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing 
  • Must comply with all theater command policies, regulations, and General Orders 

    Desired: 

  • Previous OCONUS experience. (Prefer Afghanistan or Iraq)
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10 years’ experience
  • Military communications experience preferred
  • Prefer experience on Military BN/BDE staff and understand the MDMP concept
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret and NATO security clearance.
