AAF Engineer Trainer-TA

Train the AAF HQ, AAF Wings, and other applicable Afghan organizations to develop five-year SRM plans for AAF facilities and infrastructure.  Develop training courses and training material for the AAF Engineering community that supports the TAAC-Air Engineering Director guidance.  The courses shall be applicable to AAF organizations to enable their ability to perform SRM functions and processes to enable AAF operations.  These courses, at the minimum, shall include concepts planning, scheduling, project development, project management, construction management, budgeting, land utilization, and facility/infrastructure sustainment planning.  Collaborate with the J-Lead to determine which classes shall be developed and a schedule for delivery of the courses.  As Coalition security and policies allow, meet and train AAF Engineering Leaders and/or other applicable organizations and persons at least 4 times a week for at least 1 hour or IAW current 438 AEW/TAAC-Air advising policies and directions.  The Contractor shall develop and foster relationships with the AAF to liaise between the 438 AEW/TAAC-Air and the AAF on engineering issues. 


  • Requires an engineering professional with a minimum of a four-year Engineering Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited College or University. 
  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering work experience including project development, project management, training/course development, and facility/infrastructure sustainment, restorations and modernization (SRM) plan development.
  • Have demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and have an effective support and reach back capability to provide timely support and assistance.  Effective reach back support is defined as a 24-hour response for a request for support
  • Must be able to pass all medical, dental and other CRC-related deployment requirements from CRC at Ft. Bliss, TX.    
  • Must continue to maintain CENTCOM Mod 13 and other deployment-related requirements for the Afghanistan theater of operations     
  • Must be able to receive and maintain a current/active Afghanistan visa 
  • Must be in possession of and maintain an appropriate-level current/active security clearance with eligibility to receive/maintain a NATO clearance for the duration of the deployment      
  • Must be willing to work and live in austere and hostile environments in Afghanistan, and understanding of the possibility to be further assigned to any location in Afghanistan, as allowed by the contract 
  • Must be willing and able to travel outside of protected areas via military convoys or MILAIR, and wear protective clothing and equipment, as required.  Force protection will be provided by authorized sources.   
  • Must have the demonstrated ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing 
  • Must comply with all theater command policies, regulations, and General Orders 


  • Previous OCONUS experience. (Prefer Afghanistan or Iraq)
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or related area
  • 10 years’ experience in engineering or related area
  • Prefer experience on Military BN/BDE staff and understand the MDMP concept
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret and NATO security clearance.
