AAF Regional Operations Centre Advisor-TA


Shall instruct and train in the development of an AAF ROC as well as its continued sustainment. Demonstrate experience in planning and executing air operations, interactions with air operations centers and analysis of flight operations.   Train, advise, and assist ROC personnel on prioritizing and approving local and regional Air Support Requests (ASR).  Train, advise, and assist on generating flying schedules with national and regional missions.  Provide instruction on maintaining situational awareness of factors affecting missions, including Aircraft availability, Maintenance, Crew availability, Airfield conditions, and restricted areas.  Train, advise, and assist on the maintenance of communications channels.  Train, advise, and assist on monitoring the Afghan National Tracking System (ANTS).  Train, advise, and assist ROC personnel on responding to emergency situation by utilizing local mission aircraft (i.e. wounded, combat support).emergency response operations, to include the integration of CASEVAC, utility, and attack aviation assets into any response.  Train, advise, and assist on maintainingwith real time communication with, and tracking of all mission aircraft.  Train, advise, and assist on tasking appropriate squadrons to obtain desired effectseffects coordination, ensuring all desired effects are achieved with efficient use of all air assets.  Provide instruction to AAF ROC personnel on submitting Post Mission Reports.  Train, advise, and assist on establishing a ROC Training Program and to ensure the development of each individual.  Provide instruction to AAF ROC personnel on developing and administering training programs for all members, assess es training, and developmental needs for the organization.  Provide instruction on helping Instruct individuals and groups developing occupational skills, creating e training documents, and by presenting in-person training sessions.  M, and monitors training for effectiveness.  Preferred experience includes previous duty managing flight operations, battle tracking of aviation assets, and efficient processing of Air Movement Requests.  Experience as an aviation Coach or Traininer Mentor desired.


  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in Military airfield/aviation operations and management
  • Documented experience in airfield aviation operations
  • Must be a US Citizen 
  • Must be able to pass CENTCOM medical, dental and other CRC-related deployment requirements from CRC at Ft. Bliss, TX.   
  • Must continue to maintain CENTCOM Mod 13 and other deployment-related requirements for the Afghanistan theater of operations     
  • Must be able to receive and maintain a current/active Afghanistan visa.
  • Must be in possession of and maintain an appropriate-level current/active security clearance with eligibility to receive/maintain a NATO clearance for the duration of the deployment      
  • Must be willing to work and live in austere and hostile environments in Afghanistan, and understanding of the possibility to be further assigned to any location in Afghanistan, as allowed by the contract 
  • Must be willing and able to travel outside of protected areas via military convoys or MILAIR, and wear protective clothing and equipment, as required.  Force protection will be provided by authorized sources.
  • Must have the demonstrated ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing
  • Must comply with all theater command policies, regulations, and General Orders 


  • 10 years’ experience in the Military airfield/aviation operations and management
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Previous OCONUS experience (Prefer Afghanistan or Iraq)
  • Experience in Military BN/BDE staff. Understand MDMP concept
  • Understand ROE (Rules of Engagement)
  • Aviation Observer Controller experience
  • Understand the capabilities of the C130/C208/MI-17/A29/MD530/UH-60/Scan Eagle
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret and NATO security clearance.
