Accounting Associate

Duties, Experience, Skills, Requirements, and Information: Ability to work well as a team and as an individual; under general supervision, performs administrative duties within the finance and/or accounting department.  Assists in the preparation, analysis, review, verification and reconciliation of various records, financial reports and statements.  Prepares standard and specialized financial reports (i.e., account reconciliations, balance sheets, income statements, pro formas, etc.) and performs basic financial analyses to summarize current and projected company financial position.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • All candidates will be required to pass Drug Screenings
  • Processes accounts payable invoices.
  • Assists in determining methods and procedures for new assignments to ensure alignment with department policies and procedures.
  • Contacts other departments and/or outside agencies to resolve problems.
  • Uses office automated systems to input data to facilitate accounting tasks; generates basic financial reports and responds to general inquiries.  Identifies and escalates problems as appropriate.
  • Makes necessary corrections to vendor claims and answers queries about the program.
  • Maintains pending files and performs timely follow ups to ensure quality customer service.
  • Performs routine data entry, filing, and maintenance in order to support the department.  May deviate from routine policies and procedures when need arises.
  • Verifies cost accounting and accounts payable records in order to ensure accuracy. 
  • Sets up new hires in Time & Labor System.
  • Processes, enters and updates employee financial information such as hours worked and bonuses.
  • Answers basic employee questions and inquiries about financial issues regarding pay checks and bonuses to ensure employee understanding of and compliance with company policies and practices.
  • Personal computer and business solutions software skills.
  • Organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.
  • Communication skills to interface with employees, co-workers and management.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, interpersonal skills to interact with team members
  • Experience working with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Experience working with financial software packages

Education Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Finance administration experience preferred

Security Clearance(required):

  • Ability to obtain and maintain US DoD Secret Security clearance, throughout employment.  If applicable.

    Conditions will vary.   Work is performed in an office, enclosed building. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching.  Applicant should be capable of lifting up to 25 lbs.  assisted by other employees.
