ATO Shift Supervisor

GENERAL DUTIES (not all inclusive):
•    Serves as a liaison with various USAP work-centers and agencies to ensure accurate and efficient cargo/passenger operations for both day and night shifts. Coordinates transportation assets, personnel support, and equipment necessary to successfully conduct Antarctic Terminal Operations (ATO) transport operations
•    Coordinates the resources required to support all aspects of multiple airfields’ passenger and cargo operations in support of the USAP.
•    Maintains operational control over the Movement Control Center (MCC) cargo yards, cargo bay, airfields, and vehicles.
•    Provides direct operational direction to ATO cargo and airfield personnel, and indirect operational direction for passenger services and shuttle personnel.
•    Responsible for training all Load Planners, and oversees training schedules of all cargo and  passenger services personnel.
•    Responsible for the Quality Assurance of aircraft pallets, proper restraint, aircraft load plans, and final hazardous material documentation.
•    Maintains detailed documentation for all aspects of the MCC operations, related to departmental metrics.  
•     Assists the MCC Supervisor with final flight manifests on all cargo and passenger flights.
•    Implements standard operating procedures and assists in the revision of operating procedures as required.
•    Assists with establishing priorities for passenger and cargo movements among all agencies on each outgoing flight.
•    Interfaces with USAP Cargo staff, Science Personnel, and grantees to coordinate cargo priorities for all outgoing flights.
•    Assists with the proper handling and monitoring of call-forward or priority passenger/cargo requests from Terminal Operations, Christchurch.
•    Serves as the ATO Point-of-Contact (POC) for passenger and cargo issues in the absence of the Senior Passenger Services Representative, the Vehicle Operations Supervisor, the MCC Supervisor and/or the USAP Cargo Supervisor.
•    Assists the MCC Supervisor with providing departmental training and completing safety/accident/incident reports.
•    Interacts with the National Science Foundation, the armed forces, and other agency officials in a professional and tactful manner.
•    Conducts and plans daily/weekly safety meetings and provides attendance and subject documentation.
•    Contributes information to living documents annotating all ATO employee work performances throughout the season, to be used as reference for –post season personnel evaluations.
•    Responsible for implementing and maintaining a safe workplace program and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
•    Helps field and troubleshoot cargo queries presented to the MCC regarding aircraft loading issues, cargo/passenger priorities, and any other ATO-related discrepancies that may arise.
•    Must be willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts, mostly in an office environment but occasionally outside in inclement weather conditions.
•    Must be willing to work outdoors and stand for 12-hour shifts during re-supply vessel operations.
•    Will occasionally perform strenuous physical work.
•    Will frequently remain seated working on a computer terminal for multiple hours.
•    Will occasionally need to lift and push 75lbs.
•    Will frequently need to lift and push 50lbs.
•    Will constantly move 20 lb. objects.
•    Will occasionally climb vertical ladders into and out of equipment.
•    Will occasionally climb vertical ladders and platforms to access cargo.
•    Performs other duties as required.

•    BS/BA required. Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of a degree.
•    Valid Driver’s License is required.  
•    Current AMC Load Planner Certification must be provided prior to deployment.
•    This position requires a minimum of two years of logistics leadership or supervisory experience.
•    Familiarity with automated data processing programs such as MAXIMO, ICODES, and Microsoft Office 2000 software within the Microsoft Windows Operating System is preferred.
•    An understanding of remote site logistics is preferred.  
•    Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum. 
•    Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods is required.
•    Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors.
•    Must successfully complete the physical, dental and psychological (if applicable) examinations as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica.
•    Must participate in community programs, such as “house-mouse” (chores), “daisy-picking” (cleaning-up around the station), recycling efforts and safety objectives.
•    Must be legally able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
