Communications & Lab Services Manager

Overview:

The Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Mission is to provide Naval Warfare Centers, the Fleet, and other customers with accurate undersea, surface, and in-air three-dimensional tracking data and other unique Atlantic test facilities.  In support of Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E), and Fleet readiness assessment and training. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments.

Responsible for ensuring the operation and maintenance of Communication and Timing systems on the AUTEC Project.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the operation and maintenance of complex systems, conducts testing to ensure installation meets appropriate standards and procedures.
  • Initiates and oversees complex service restoration processes to expedite problem resolution; monitors processes and resolves any matters of significance in order to ensure completion in accordance with established procedures.
  • Oversees operation of Naval Message Center and ensures compliance with Navy instructions.
  • Manages a team of engineers/technicians in performance of their assigned duties
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an associated discipline or related field preferred.
  • Ten or more years of direct experience working with principles and practices of associated technology required.
  • Five or more years of supervisory or management experience required.
  • Experience with Satellite, Microwave, Radio, and PBX disciplines preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License and passport will be required
  • Must meet eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain the required government security clearance
  • Strong management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • This position requires the individual to be eligible to obtain a US Government security clearance;   US Citizenship is required
  • Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.
  • A valid US Passport and Driver’s License is required.
