Purpose and Scope 

Provide engineering support of EGS operations by providing oversight and guidance of engineering activities related to facilities, systems, and utilities, including developing processes to comply with EGS operations requirements, ensure compliance with requirements for non-conformance reporting, ensure compliance with requirements for task instruction format, and represent the BOSS Chief Engineer at integrated readiness and status meetings.

Job Duties and Essential Responsibilities           

Represent engineering at readiness and status meetings.

Invite assigned system engineer when required to discuss facility system related issues in detail.

Ensure compliance with integrated operations requirements.

Work order and job plan tasking format and quality and safety requirements as required by BOSS integrated operations support procedures.

Proper documentation, reporting, and closure of non-conformances.

Develop and maintain BOSS procedures to comply with integrated operations requirements. Schedule and conduct weekly meetings with NASA to address the status of assigned systems and facilities. Obtain and maintain CCC and/or Firing Room Console Operator certification for console supporting assigned systems. Obtain and maintain Red Crew and Pad Re-Entry certification. Review, update, and maintain supporting requirements documentation, including IOMIs, KPRDs, PRDs, and support plans. Support EGS development with any upcoming Verification & Validation planning operations. Attend formal Major Flight Readiness and Pre/Post Test Briefings, and specific Readiness briefings. Perform Pre-Operational verifications and prepare Readiness Statements for Major Milestones. Attend and support all Document ICR reviews to ensure BOSS requirements/support are properly captured and identified. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering, or related scientific field and at least 10 years of job-related experience or equivalent. Experience in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Fire Protection, or General Engineering) with operations related focus.   The ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to Engineering problems. Good communication and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with MS Excel, Word, Project, Visio, and Powerpoint May require some limited travel. May require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

Other Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to communicate in English, both verbal and written in an effective manner.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards; occasional lifting to 20 pounds; constant sitting with use of computer terminal; constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents; constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication; constant mental alertness; must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines. Field work will consist primarily of site walk downs in support of design projects and system trouble shooting Site hazard training and Personal Protective Equipment are provided.
