Duty Description: As the GCPSU J7/LNO, serve as the primary interface to the General Command of Police Special Unit (GCPSU) Special Operations Advisory Group (SOAG) Command Team (a NATO Command) and the SOAG J7 Section. Train, Advise, Assist, and Mentor (TAAM) the (Afghan) GCPSU J7 Section. Coordinate internal to the GCPSU and externally (ANASOC and SMW) for GCPSU specialty training (for example, the Afghan Tactical Air Course (ATAC)) in order to build capability and professionalize the force. Provide administrative, training, movement, and logistical support to GCPSU team members as required and directed; serve as the primary POC/linkage to the GCPSU HQ Advisor/Trainers, the Special Police Advanced Training Wing (SPATW) Team, the Tactical Site Exploitation (TSE) Mobile Training Team (MTT), Surveillance Reconnaissance Trainers (SRT), National Mission Unit (NMU) /Provincial Special Unit (PSU) Trainer/Advisors, and Surveillance Reconnaissance Course (SRC) Instructors. Be prepared to backfill GCPSU team member billets (as required) and provide coverage as a National Mission Unit (NMU) or Police Special Unit (PSU) J2 Trainer/Advisor, as a Surveillance Reconnaissance Trainer (SRT), as an instructor at the Surveillance Reconnaissance Course (SRC), or as a member of the Tactical Site Exploitation (TSE) Mobile Training Team (MTT). Must possess knowledge regarding Warrant Based Targeting (WBT), TSE, Human Intelligence (HUMINT), Source Operations, long and short range surveillance, Tactical Questioning, Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (IPB), threat diagram, and all source intelligence.

Required Hours:
Work may include nights, holidays, and weekends on short notice. Standard will be to conduct training sixty hours per week while OCONUS.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Serve as primary POC for GCPSU teams/team members in support of program management.
  • Linkage between the program and GCPSU SOAG leadership and staff.
  • Coordinate for GCPSU specialty training with Advisor/Trainers and Military Mentors in the CJSOTF-A and SMW SOAG.
  • Augment or backfill an NMU/PSU J2, TSE MTT team member, SRC Instructor, or an SRT.  
  • Competent and knowledgeable in HUMINT, ASOM, IPB, WBT, counter intelligence, counter crime, and all source intelligence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
  • Capable of building and maintaining positive relations and rapport with teammates, the client (US, NATO, and Troop Contributing Nation military forces), and Afghan counterparts.
  • Understanding of the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) and capable of relating MDMP to the Afghan cipher process.
  • Provide required reports and documentation to Program Management.  
  • Able to work and live in austere and hostile environments in Afghanistan, and understanding of the possibility to be further assigned to any location in Afghanistan, as allowed by the contract. 
  • Willing and able to travel outside of protected areas via military convoys or MILAIR, and wear protective clothing and equipment, as required.  Force protection will be provided by authorized sources.   
  • Must have the demonstrated ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing. 
  • Must comply with all theater command policies, regulations, and General Orders.
  • Understand the Theater ROE (Rules of Engagement). 
  • Additional duties, responsibilities, and requirements as identified by program management.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Former Senior NCO, WO of Officer with at least three (3) years of experience in Combat Arms and/or Intelligence Operations.
  • At least three (3) years of experience at the battalion staff or higher level(s).
  • At least three (3) years of experience in Source Handling, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, Crime Scene Investigation, Sensitive and TSE, all source intelligence, IPB, Target package development, WBT, and Counterintelligence.
  • At least one year of combat/deployment experience.
  • At least one year of TAAM experience with a Partnered Nation Security Force.
  • Must be a US Citizen. 
  • Able to pass CENTCOM medical, dental and other CRC-related deployment requirements from CRC at Ft. Bliss, TX.    
  • Must continue to maintain CENTCOM Mod 13 and other deployment-related requirements for the Afghanistan theater of operations.     
  • Able to receive and maintain a current/active Afghanistan visa. 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. 

    Desired Qualifications: 

  • OCONUS experience in Afghanistan or Iraq preferred working with Partnered Nation Security Forces as an advisor.
  • Previous experience working with coalition forces, NATO, or other Troop Contributing Nations.
  • Familiarization with the Afghan/MoI GCPSU structure/organization, mission, and cipher process.
  • Understanding of the NATO and Resolute Support structure and mission.
  • 10 years’ military and/or contracting experience in intelligence/combat arms. 
  • Experience on Military BDE staff (or higher) and understand the MDMP concept.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

  • Include but are not limited to the wear of body armor and helmet Personal Protective Gear, unassisted lifting and carrying of duffle bags not exceed the weight of 70 lbs. per piece, and the unassisted movement over uneven terrain.
  • Must be willing to work and live in Afghanistan with an understanding that there could be further assignments to any location in Afghanistan based upon the needs of the U.S. Government, to include hostile and austere areas.
  • Must be able to attend and pass USG deployment requirements at CONUS Replacement Center (CRC), Fort Bliss, Texas or equivalent location.
  • Must meet the medical requirements for the position being offered as determined by a pre-employment medical screening and in accordance with published CRC and USCENTCOM medical deployment standards.
  • Must be able to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces up to eight (8) hours per day and sit for up to three (3) hours per day.
  • Must be able to routinely climb / descend stairs.
  • Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows / knees, and reach above / below shoulders.
  • Must be able to read and interpret newspaper and typewritten print.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Employee will be required to work and live in a potentially hostile environment, at remote locations, and under austere conditions.
  • May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, under extreme weather conditions, within a hostile environment.
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from aircraft, hostile fire, and other acts of aggression associated with this region.
  • Contractor personnel shall comply with all theater command policies, regulations, and General Orders. All tours are unaccompanied.
  • Refrain from using alcohol/illegal and non-prescription substances—abide by CENTCOM’s General Order #1.

Security Clearance: An active DoD Secret Security clearance is required in order to handle classified material and to work in a controlled area on a daily basis in support of the client.
