HVACR Supervisor

PAE is looking to hire a HVACR SUPERVISOR as part of OMSS program in Iraq. The HVACR Supervisor will take ownership of all HVACR and related projects of the assigned site, to include the service and repair of environmental control systems using direct knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, structural layout and troubleshooting.

Some of the main responsibilities include:

  • Will assume complete responsibility for installation and repair of all HVACR equipment related operation and maintenance, preventative maintenance, repair and installation.
  • Will report to the Site's Operations & Maintenance Manager.
  • Will operate, maintain and repair site HVACR systems including: air-cooled chillers, Direct Exchange units, air handling units, filters and Chemical Biological filters, ductwork, dampers, actuators, fans, cold water lines, heating and cooling units, fan coil units, electric reheats, diffusers, vents, VAV boxes, exhaust fans, supply fans, smoke exhaust fans, fresh air ducts, control valves, cooling coils and ventilation systems for laundry rooms, kitchens and rest rooms.
  • Responsible for scheduling personnel, including shifts and rotations, to maintain acceptable levels of service at all times;
  • Assign tasks, establish and enforce standards of conduct and performance in the work environment;
  • Inspect and audit work in process and completed work to ensure completed work meets applicable codes, quality standards and customer satisfaction
  • Manage tools and inventory to ensure proper accountability and adequate supply levels to meet routine operational needs and reasonable surges and non-routine requests - Completes quantitative and qualitative reports
  • Provide verbal and written input on policies, plans and procedures, and other administrative tasks
  • Responsible for mounting compressors, condenser units and air handling units, following blueprints, engineering specifications and manufacturer's recommendations
  • Responsible for facility custodianship of work area and management of tools, equipment and spare parts for the HVACR operation
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned


  • Minimum Acceptable Experience Level: Two (2) years’ experience as a Master HVACR Mechanic or ten (10) years’ experience as a Journeyman HVACR Mechanic.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of applicable US Codes, International Mechanical Code 2012 and acceptable trade practices.
    • Strong knowledge of appliance operations and repairs.
    • Knowledge of principles and processes involved in supporting contract responsibilities at an overseas facility.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.
    • Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team.
    • Ability to be innovative and be an agent for change.
    • Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information.
  • Education: A high school diploma or GED. HVACR Mechanic Vocational Diploma or completed an apprentice program with a Journeyman Certificate and achieved Master HVACR Technician qualification or have acceptable experience.
  • Licenses and Certifications:
  • Valid drivers’ license from Home of Record and valid truck driver’s license from Home of Record.
  • Able to obtain a Master HVAC License prior to hire date or within 180 days employment.
  • Security Vetting: Already possess a US Government issued security clearance or be able to obtain a favorable US Government clearance prior to being hired is required for the position. Must maintain eligibility at the required certification or clearance level for the duration of the contract.
  • Language Skills: Satisfactory English proficiency to meet job requirements and to adhere and comply with safety, health, and security measures.
  • Citizenship: A US government Secret clearance is required for this position therefore US citizenship is also required as this is a requirement for the clearance.
  • Medical: Successfully complete and pass the medical and dental examinations as required by PAE and our customer for deployment to Iraq. Must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment.


  • Previous out of home country experience and previous work experience in harsh environmental conditions are a plus.
  • Experience working with PAE.


This position may be located in a war zone, in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment. Temperatures can reach 120- 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50-55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment, as well as willing and able to deploy to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are a minimum of 6 days per week and 10 hours per day, while some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
