Law Clerk II

Candidate will perform work on a number of initiatives within the Environmental Crimes Section (ECS) of ENRD, mainly the Animal Welfare and Oil Spill Pollution initiatives. 

The work on Oil Spill Pollution involves work with vessel pollution cases involving the Act Preventing Pollution from Ships (APPS). The work on Animal Welfare will involve cases of dogfighting and other inhumane treatment of animals. Work will involve managing the intake of discovery for new cases and setting up their case files. Within ECS a potential candidate will have the opportunity to see a case from complaint/receipt by ENRD all the way through trial with hands on experience supporting the attorney teams through the process.

Duties and responsibilities will also include; 

- Case discovery, managing intake of documents and materials from attorneys, agents and collaboration with other federal agencies. 
- Multi-tasking and prioritizing work and deadlines on multiple cases.
- Document productions, working with OLS on processing requests and loading to Relativity workspaces. 
- Maintaining and searching case databases in Relativity. 
- Meetings and communications with agents and collaborating information with other federal agencies.
- Reviewing data and information from a variety of sources such as mobile phone records, deposition transcripts, search warrants and providing reports on findings.
- Status reports to the attorney team.
- Legal research and drafting of memos. Assisting attorney team with parts of briefs.
- Working with exhibits and on-site trial support in various locations around the country. 

Qualifications:

​• Must be able to obtain a government security clearance.

​• JD Required
• At least 3 years experience working in litigation support in a fast paced, time sensitive environment.
• Experience with research tools as WestLaw and software platforms as Relativity and Trial Director.
• Experience with trial support and ability to travel with trial team, setting up war rooms and in court procedures to support attorney teams. 
• Experience working with legal briefs and compiling exhibits.
• Strong communication and writing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time and prioritize workloads.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
