Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for ongoing management and improvement of safety, environmental, & quality (SEQ) programs and overall regulatory compliance. He/She will oversee the SEQ program assessments, critical operations oversight, and ensure proper documentation of OSHA, EPA, NASA and ISO (9001, 14001, 45001) requirements. The candidate must be focused on incident and injury prevention and will manage SEQ program performance through effective communications, project management, and development of continuous improvement initiatives. The candidate will be responsible for developing new solutions to identify and minimize potential hazards within the safety and environmental fields. Candidate will be responsible for working closely with site leadership, engineering, and team to assess and address safety aspects of engineering controls, facilities projects, engaging employees to address safety concerns and determining safe work behaviors. Candidate must be able to successfully work independently and as part of a functional team to identify, analyze and resolve multiple issues in a timely and consistent manner. Candidate will represent the organization across multiple levels of the company and must demonstrate the ability to collaborate and effectively communicate organization strategy and objectives. Must have the ability to research and apply the best industrial and working practices to provide effective services while keeping abreast with changes in laws and regulations. Must possess an in-depth knowledge of SEQ engineering processes and practices.


  • Prior experience with working on US government installations including NASA.
  • Subject matter expert with regulatory and consensus standards such as ISO, OSHA, EPA, ANSI etc.
  • Experience in SEQ programs including developing, collecting, maintaining and analyzing program documents, presenting metrics, evaluations and/or inspections, ergonomic assessments and/or industrial hygiene assessments
  • Ability to identify leading and lagging indicators
  • Researches safety regulations and informs senior management of changes. Implements actions to maintain compliance.
  • Manages injury review process and root cause investigation 
  • Performs job hazard analyses, system auditing and inspections to ensure safe working conditions.
  • Manages special safety assignments and projects to ensure adherence to safety regulations and to determine needs for updating safety codes. Makes and implements safety policies and procedures as appropriate.
  • Formulates, implements and maintains policies, programs and techniques necessary to achieve company goals and regulatory requirements including record retention.
  • Trains employees to enhance their performance, development, and work product.
  • Conducts comprehensive safety audits and inspections.
  • Recommends actions for the correction of hazardous situations for compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Reviews completed Work Orders for compliance to requirements.
  • Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment to minimize hazard and/or improve efficiency.
  • Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
  • Analyzes injury and illness data and performs numerous aspects of the Mishap Investigation Program.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • BA/BS in Occupational Safety or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of experience and education from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired.
  • CSP ASP, CHST, SMS, designation from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals
  • Candidates should have a strong background in applying occupational SEQ requirements in construction, operations, and system/subsystem testing environments.
  • Subject Matter Expert with safety and environmental program elements, such as personal protective equipment (PPE), fire safety, working at heights, ordnance safety, electrical, arc flash, and lock out/tag out safety requirements, and OSHA general-industry standards is necessary.
  • Strong, positive communication skills, attention to detail, good verbal and written communications skills, and ability to establish cooperative, sustainable working relationships with customers. Past or present experience with KSC safety programs and familiarity with launch complex and industrial areas is a plus.
  • Ability to work with computers
  • Ability to work independently but follow specific detailed instructions
  • Ability to interface with various levels of personnel in a multi-cultural, team- oriented environment

  • Must be able to obtain required NASA badge.
  • Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
  • Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
  • Must have, and maintain, a valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Dexterity to operate office and field equipment as required by the position.
