MWR Coordinator

The MWR Coordinator will be primarily based at PAE’s location, Iraq, and serve the Life Support Services contract in support of the State of Department. The MWR Coordinator will be responsible for coordination and implementation of MWR programs and facility operations in accordance with the MWR Annex, SOP’s and PAE Management objectives and will report to the MWR Supervisor. The selected candidate will have developed customer service skills, be self-motivated with the ability to work independently in addition to with a team. The candidate must be able to organize events and activities. This position requires that the candidate be in good physical condition. The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing when overseeing programs. Recurring bending, stooping, stretching, twisting and heavy lifting (over 50 pounds) is required; demonstration of physical fitness techniques. The additional duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive:

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
  • Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals.  Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.
  • Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
  • Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
  • Interacts directly with customers and patrons – in person, on the telephone, and via email. Exercises good judgement in decisions.
  • Performs various daily maintenance and cleaning duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
  • Directs and documents pool chemical balancing as necessary (if applicable to site).
  • Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.
  • Must adhere to SOP procedures, work instructions and PAE policies and procedures.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

• Citizenship: US Citizenship is not required
• Education: High School diploma or equivalent
• License: Must have valid Driver’s License from home country
• Experience:
• Two (2) years’ experience in Customer Service Related Field
• One (1) years’ experience working in Sports/Recreation Related Field
• Understanding of Maintenance requirements for Fitness Machines
• Ability to pass Life Guard Certification Course (if applicable to site)
• Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid, AED Certifications
• Security Vetting: Must be able to obtain a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) security clearance, maintaining eligibility for the duration of the contract
• Medical: Favorable passage of a drug screen and physical examination
• Language Skills: Effective oral and written English communication skills, to present, facilitate and disseminate information
• Work Ethic: Commitment to maintaining a high performance team which delivers customer service excellence
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Willingness and ability to deploy to Iraq for extended periods is required. Position may be located in a war zone in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment - temperatures can reach 120- 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50-55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere and extreme environment.
  • Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including but not limited to heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time; and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
  • Must successfully complete and pass the medical and dental examinations as required by PAE and our customer for deployment to Iraq. Must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 6 days per week and 10 hours per day, some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums.
  • Must possess satisfactory English proficiency to meet job requirements and to adhere and comply with safety, health and security measures.

• Department of State experience
• One (1) year of international experience in challenging locations, preferably working in the Middle East, with a working knowledge of customs and cultural differences
• Knowledge of principles and processes involved in MWR Operations
• Ability to collect, analyze and summarize data and to prepare clear and concise reports
• Exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and administrative details in a fast paced and constantly changing environment
• Proficient computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Must have the ability to be innovative and be an agent for change
