Purpose and Scope 

PSP is seeking an experienced, detail oriented process engineer to join our growing Base Operations and Spaceport Services (BOSS) team, located at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, Florida. In this position, you will assist the Engineering Division Manager in assuring delivery of quality Engineering Products and Services, in an efficient manner, and meeting schedule commitments. We provide mission focused engineering support for a variety of facilities, include space flight hardware processing facilities, launch pad support facilities, power plants, Engineering and Administrative Support buildings and other types of Industrial Facilities. You will facilitate process improvements and streamlined productivity in all Engineering branches, including System Engineering, Design Engineering, Project Management, Construction Services, Site Services, and Activation, Configuration & Asset Management. 

Job Duties and Essential Responsibilities           

Analyze current processes and determine areas that need modification. Collaborate with the various project teams to create solutions and lead the development of enhanced processes to further strengthen the Engineering Division. Oversee the implementation of the new processes and procedures, and analyze them to ensure efficiency. Investigate and troubleshoot any problems that arise with processes, procedures, and operations Conduct various quality assurance checks to verify the quality of completed projects Assess, review, and report on engineering metrics to maximize achievement of goals related to those metrics Establish KPI’s to further assess Engineering performance, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. 

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related scientific field, and 5+ yrs process engineering experience. 5 years experience as a design engineer, system engineer, or other related field. Interpersonal communication skills with expertise in distilling complicated topics to a broader audience Capable of using spreadsheets, word processing and standard Microsoft Office software to include Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Visio.

Preferred Qualifications:

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification is preferred May require some limited travel. May require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

Other Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to communicate in English, both verbal and written in an effective manner.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards; occasional lifting to 20 pounds; constant sitting with use of computer terminal; constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents; constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication; constant mental alertness; must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines. Field work will consist primarily of site walk downs in support of design projects and system trouble shooting Site hazard training and Personal Protective Equipment are provided.
