Public Affairs Officer/Gender Integration Mentor (PAO/GIM)


Will mentor ANASOC and AAF TAAC-A HQ staff in planning, organizing, coordinating, and conducting all internal, community relations, and media relations communications activities.  This will include mentoring/advising on all media dissemination, media campaign designs, print and photo media creations, and all telecommunications.  The incumbent will also act as the primary Gender Integration Mentor for the ANASOC and AAF TAAC-A staff.


  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Native English speaker
  • Must be female per contract/position stipulations
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in communications, community relations, photo, print, telecommunications or related field
    • In lieu of a Bachelors’ degree, five years’ work experience in Media/Communications with any certification is acceptable.
  • High degree of competency with Microsoft Office productivity suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Superb interpersonal skills, with proven ability to exercise respect and cultural sensitivity
  • Must be able to pass CENTCOM medical, dental and other CRC-related deployment requirements from CRC at Ft. Bliss, TX.  
  • Must continue to maintain CENTCOM Mod 13 and other deployment-related requirements for the Afghanistan theater of operations   
  • Must be in possession of a current/active US tourist Passport with at least 6 months of remaining eligibility
  • Must be able to receive and maintain a current/active Afghanistan visa
  • Must be in possession of and maintain an appropriate-level current/active security clearance with eligibility to receive/maintain a NATO clearance for the duration of the deployment    
  • Must be willing to work and live in austere and hostile environments in Afghanistan, and understanding of the possibility to be further assigned to any location in Afghanistan, as allowed by the contract
  • Must be willing and able to travel outside of protected areas via military convoys or MILAIR, and wear protective clothing and equipment, as required.  Force protection will be provided by authorized sources. 
  • Must have the demonstrated ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing
  • Must comply with all theater command policies, regulations, and General Orders


  • prior OCONUS experience (Afghanistan or Iraq preferred)
  • active Secret clearance
  • Master’s Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), English, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, communications, community relations, photo, print, telecommunications, or related disciplines.
