Supply Technician

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Receives, stores and issues materials in support of all department operations including forklift support as required. Researches stock information to determine locations and stock levels using the ERP database.
  • Establishes and enhances strong working relationships with customers.
  • Prepares outbound shipments.
  • Accurately documents incoming and outgoing material.
  • Investigates and reconciles routine and recurring discrepancies relating to actions such as receipt control, stock control, and inventory adjustments.
  • Operates computer terminals or personal tablets/computers to perform records search, data input, and data corrections.
  • Responsible for general housekeeping and maintains warehouse and Outside Storage Area (OSA) in an organized and clean manner.
  • Conducts physical inventories and maintains inventory stock.
  • Answers recurring inquiries regarding the status of requisitions, delivery of material, and other questions received from customers.
  • Examines items received; notes overages, shortages, or any damages incurred in shipping; and prepares detailed reports as required.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned by Senior Supply Technician and/or Supply Department management.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 2+ years of warehouse/supply chain/logistics experience including the use of forklifts, hand trucks and other powered and non-powered lifting devices or a minimum of one season experience working in the Transportation and Logistics (T&L) department in Antarctica.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and a working knowledge of other Office programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Self-motivation and high accountability with ability to make sound decisions with minimal supervision
  • Strong ability to multitask
  • Strong ability to clearly and efficiently communicate
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to support frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, lifting up to 50lbs, and working at heights.
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions.
  • Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods is required.
  • Must participate in community programs, such as “house-mouse” (chores), cleaning-up around the station, recycling efforts safety events and objectives.
  • Must successfully complete the physical, dental and psychological (if applicable) examinations as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica
  • US citizenship or US Permanent Resident Status is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity and capability to identify commodities in a specific area: Medical/Dental; Construction/Residential Repair; Automotive/Heavy & Industrial Equipment; Science/Lab Support; Food/Beverage/Retail; Office/Hotel/Janitorial Supplies; Electrical/Plumbing/Utilities/Carpentry/Fire Safety; Information Technology/Communications supplies.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Office Programs
  • IBM Maximo experience
  • Hazardous material handling experience is preferred.
  • Experience with remote site polar logistics operations is highly desirable.
