Purpose and Scope 

System Engineer to provide support to BOSS Power and Protective Systems Engineering involving troubleshooting, analysis of data, review of designs, preparation of Operation and Maintenance Documentation (OMD) and other miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

Job Duties and Essential Responsibilities           

Participate in design reviews and provide written comments.  Review specifications, engineering drawings and test plans regarding electrical and/or protective systems upgrades and installation projects. Analyze data, review/prepare procedures, review/prepare tasking, and update documentation as assigned. Support System Engineering addressing troubleshooting of systems as they arise. Support System Engineering in the review of data and system operation for the performance of readiness assessments of assigned equipment and systems. Revise existing and add new asset information in the Maximo database for systems and equipment to meet OMD schedule metrics.  This may include electrical systems, fire suppression systems, emergency exit lighting or other related systems. Support System engineering with conducting site visits, experimental investigations and analyzing engineering problems to propose solutions and alternatives and/or recommendations. Support System Engineering in the development of statements of work for outside repairs or service work for systems and equipment under the BOSS contract to ensure reliability and readiness. Support System Engineering in the development of job plans for maintenance of equipment and systems. Perform site inspections of equipment and systems and prepare written analysis of equipment status, corrective maintenance required, site conditions, and any other requested data collection. Perform all other duties as assigned or requested

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field. Capable of using spreadsheets, word processing and standard Microsoft Office software to include Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Visio. Ability to read and interpret multi-discipline Engineering drawings. Strong communication and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

 Preferred two years of previous experience in electrical engineering or related field. May require some limited travel. May require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

Other Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to communicate in English, both verbal and written in an effective manner.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards; occasional lifting to 20 pounds; constant sitting with use of computer terminal; constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents; constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication; constant mental alertness; must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines. Field work will consist primarily of site walk downs in support of design projects and system trouble shooting Site hazard training and Personal Protective Equipment are provided.
